As a young kiddo I can remember being absolutely obsessed with horses. It helped that I lived in the prairies and my grandfather had a friend with a pasture and a herd of horses. Now these weren’t fancy purebreds or anything, just a mix of quarter and who-knows-what-else. But I LOVED it.
The horse I rode was called Dancer, and his lore was that he was loosely related to the thoroughbred Northern Dancer. Now I don’t know if this was true or not, but it doesn’t matter. He was my favourite and we were buddies.
When I couldn’t get to the pasture, I would beg and annoy my parents into taking me to a Tractor Supply Company so I could buy with my measly allowance Breyer’s Horse Figurines. I just checked on how much they go for now, and it’s a whopping 50$. They were definately not that expensive when I was a kid.
So here’s to me, revisiting a long lost love. One day I will have my own and I can bury my nose deep in their neck and take a whiff.
